Blog 17: Answer 3
EQ: Which of the 3 major football units has the most impact on the outcome of a game?
Answer 3: The offensive unit has the most impact on the outcome of a game because they score the most field points.
Reasons:
- the offense is usually the unit responsible for most of points scored in the game.
- the offense focuses more on teamwork and synching together more than the other units.
-the offense is the always a coaches main concern.

No matter what biased opinion any coach has, each unit, in some way, is dependent upon one another. In the case of a successful offense, teamwork and effort is the sure way to win games.

Extra Blog: February
Starting this week, I will get the chance to participate in coaching the 2015-2016 season team for the Southland's Varsity team in Walnut, CA. I will attend the practices, help set up the fields,organize game footage, and watch the games from the sidelines. I'm excited mostly because i will get the chance to work with my mentor as a fellow coach.

2. First Answer: The Special Teams unit has the most impact on the outcome of a game because of field positioning and scoring last minute points.
3. Second Answer: The Defensive unit has the most impact on the outcome of a game because of field coverage, and turnovers.
4. a) If a team's defense is skilled enough, the team does not require the offense to score any points to win the game.
b) Strong defenses can win games by casuing turnovers or interceptions and making "pick-six" touchdowns.
c) The defense is the only unit that is not dependent on the results of the other 2 units during a game.

Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Approval
1. For my second independent component, I plan to take a step further in my experience in coaching football by aiding my mentor in coaching the 2015 season team at Southlands team before their preseason starts in May.
2. With the permission of the coach, I plan on video taping each practice, team conditioning, and strength building sessions and will take pictures, as well as do mini interviews with some of the players.
3. By being an assistant coach alongside my mentor, I will get a hands on experience on what it feels like to coach an actual league team. The most essential part about coaching the Southlands team is that I can eventually become n assistant coach as a part time job, after I have had the proper training.

Blog 14: Independent Component 1
- Literal
a) I, Alexis Mendoza, affirm that i have completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
b) My primary source was my mentor, Richard Orr, because he helped me create the plays and drills that we ran during the practices.
c) Hours updated in "Senior Project Hours"
d) Throughout the course of my independent component, i was able to experience what it feels like to coach a team. Despite the many opinions, and constant patience i must have for every player, coaching isn't as difficult as most people make it seem. It's basically like teaching except on the field.
- Interpretive
In the 30 hours of work i put in for my independent component, i managed to meet up with my mentor more than ever and had a lot of help organizing the Powder Puff team. He helped me create the plays (pass and run) and drills that i coach to the team by separating each position equally. With a total of 4 meetings, we created a total of 5 pass plays, and 4 run plays.
- Applied
This independent component helped me become more confident as a leader, and as a teacher. The best part about coaching the powderpuff team is having assistant coaches to help me when i need it. Having and entire coaching staff makes coaching easier because they can help cover the areas in which i forget to teach. Basically, teamwork is the most important aspect of coaching, as well as learning how to play the game.
